I am a political and legal theorist with research interests in political obligation and authority, migration, and the ethics of resistance.
I hold an AB from Harvard, an MA from Toronto, a JD from Yale Law School, and a DPhil from Oxford, where I studied as a Canadian Rhodes Scholar. I am currently an Associate Professor and Queen's National Scholar in Legal & Political Philosophy at Queen's Law School in Canada.
Previously, I have worked at King's College London, the University of York, University College, Oxford, and Jindal Global Law School. I have been a Researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies (Stockholm), a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Fundamental Rights at the Hertie School (Berlin) and the Uppsala Forum on Justice and Democracy, and the George Flannery Fellow at the Julius Stone Institute of Jurisprudence (Sydney).
My first book, The Ethics of Exile, was published by Oxford University Press in 2021. I am working on two books: on victims' duties in the face of their oppression, and on the ethics of being an immigrant.
